When you arrive for your dental implant consultation
When you come to Dental Perfection in Hampstead for your dental implant consultation, you’ll be taken to a consultation room to meet with some of the most highly trained and experienced dental experts in North London.
We’ll discuss with you everything about your dental and medical history as well as various lifestyle questions. This is so we can work out how suitable you might be for tooth implants and to check if there are any adjustments that might have to be made to your course of treatment. We’ll also listen to any dental concerns you may have yourself and take them into consideration too.
We’ll get the chance to talk about what results you’re hoping to achieve right from your dental implant consultation, walking you through the treatment and discuss alternative options if necessary available from us here in Hampstead. We also really welcome the chance to answer any questions you may have at that point. If your dentist agrees dental implants may be the right option for you, you’ll then undergo several tests to make sure you’re physically suitable for them.

After your discussion, we’ll take several x-rays of your mouth and jaw. As dental implants rely on the stability of your jaw to stay in place, we can use your x-rays to check if your jawbone is dense enough to support them.
Your practitioner will then give you a full head, neck and mouth examination. During your dental implant consultation at our Hampstead location, they’ll thoroughly check:
- your teeth
- your facial muscles
- the joints in your jaw
- your lymph nodes
- mucous membrane
- your salivary glands
- the soft tissues in your mouth
In this examination, your dentist will be able to test you for a variety of different conditions and we’ll alert you if there’s anything you need to be aware of medically. Not only will this give you peace of mind, it will also help us to determine whether dental implants are a viable option for you.
If you’ve already had dental work done, our team will also check your fillings, crowns, veneers, dentures, tooth implants or bridges to make sure they are still in good condition and doing their jobs.
Further tests at your dental implant consultation will look at your:
- gums
- tooth and gum colour
- bite
- tooth alignment
- wear pattern
Your dentist will also make note of any gum recession and create a full mouth pocketing chart for your gums. When all your tests are complete, our specialist experts can examine all of the information they’ve gathered at your dental implant consultation to decide whether or not you can go ahead with your tooth replacement treatment.

If you’re given the go-ahead, we’ll take intra-oral pictures of your teeth as they are and photograph your smile during your dental implant consultation, so you’ll have your own before and after photos at the end of your treatment.
We’ll complete your treatment plan then take you over to the consultation table to discuss the results of our tests. We’ll let you know what we found and how we can solve any potential issues. You’ll also be able to look over all the pictures and x-rays we have taken.
Then, we can talk about your treatment plan as well as the cost of your procedure. Again, we’ll answer any questions you may want to ask about the treatment. We’ll give you your prognosis and the success rates of our tooth implant procedure.
We’ll also help you to weigh up the pros and cons so you can make an educated decision as to whether or not you want to go through with the treatment. If you do, we can then make an appointment for your tooth replacement.
